Sea Turtle Saved by OMCAR team

26th October 2010. A hawksbill turtle was accidentally caught in the shore seine net in Agni Estuary region close to Mallipattinam. OMCAR staffs received this information through our volunteer group that was formed to exchange the information about the stranded marine animals in this region.
The turtle was in good health, without any injuries. My collegues measured its size and negotiated with fishers. Then, it was released back into the sea. It is a good sign for our team that our communication and fisher volunteer network is started to provide its service to exchange the information about stranded animals in the region.
